BEAVERCREEK — Qbase is preparing to announce that it is giving several local universities and institutions an ownership stake in the company as a way of thanking them and the community.
The presidents of five universities are expected to be on hand at Qbase for an announcement Monday, March 10, said Bill Pardue, Qbase chief executive and co-owner.
The recipient institutions will become voting shareholders in Qbase, said Pardue.
Dan Curran, president of the University of Dayton; John Garland, president of Central State University; Karen Rafinski, president of Clark State Community College; and Mark Erickson, president of Wittenberg University, are expected to be on hand, Pardue said. As well, representatives of U.S. Rep. Dave Hobson's office and the Dayton Development Coalition are expected to be present.
Half of the gift to Central State will establish a scholarship to help graduates of Clark State finish their degrees at Central State, Pardue said. Antioch MacGregor will be the fifth university recipient of shares, he said.
In addition, the regional United Way and Springfield's Turner Foundation will receive donated shares.
Pardue said he and other Qbase shareholders have long searched for a way to thank several institutions for his young company's success so far.
"A lot of doors have been opened for us because people in the community wanted us to win," Pardue said.
For example, the Turner Foundation gave the company an important early gift. Hobson and others convinced Pardue to start his company in the Dayton-Springfield area.
The Qbase shares to be given have a current value of nearly $1.4 million, representing an approximate seven percent stake, a value that is expected to grow over time, Pardue said.
Since its founding in the summer of 2005, Qbase, a data analytics and data organizing company, has grown to more than 110 employees. The company, with offices in Beavercreek and Springfield and across the country, recently opened a new office on Pentagon Boulevard.
