BEAVERCREEK — In an unusual move for a privately held corporation, an area data management and analytics company has begun to give gifts of equity to Springfield and Dayton area educational and non-profit organizations.

Qbase, with area offices in Beavercreek and Springfield, announced Monday, March 10, its board members will donate a total of $1.4 million in stock, or about seven percent of the company's currently outstanding shares. All recipients will become voting shareholders.

The donations were to recognize continued "support and advocacy" to Qbase during its formative period, said Bill Pardue, Qbase chairman and chief executive officer.

Recipients include: The University of Dayton, Central State University, Wittenberg University, The Turner Foundation, United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association and Antioch University McGregor. Clark State Community College will receive indirect benefit through a collaborative agreement with Central State.

That partnership will allow some Clark State students to move on to Central State, completing their junior and senior years at no charge, said Karen Rafinski, Clark State's president.

Recipients were chosen in part for their "contributions to community revitalization...and strategic vision and leadership," which led Pardue to point out that the number of colleges among the recipients is not a coincidence.

Recipients thanked Qbase for its generosity, focusing on the continued community support the company offers.

John Landess, executive director of The Turner Foundation, said Qbase has been a part of job creation, workforce development and educational initiatives in Springfield since it opened its doors at 20 S. Limestone St. just over a year ago.

"Qbase is not just another company that's come to town." Landess said, "Qbase is a community partner."
